There’s always a catch to everything.
Younger women are a lot more energetic than more mature ones. They also help you see the world like how you used to — before real life caught up. The younger mind is a delight for many of us because of how refreshing their perspective is.
But not everything is sunshine and daisies.
Your girlfriend may be more exciting — and a better lay — but there are challenges you will need to face.
Here are a few problems you might experience when dating a girl younger than you:
1. She might not be ready to fully commit.
Young women still have a lot to live for. They still want to get out and party, meet many people, complete their bucket lists and build their careers. Settling down and starting a family is the last thing on the supposed list.
Your girl might not want what you want, so you should be upfront about your expectations.
You might have to wait. Let her have her youth and enjoy it with her.
2. She is immature and inexperienced.
They say women mature faster than men do, but it depends on the woman’s age and experience.
You probably don’t want to deal with all of that, but it’s par for the course. While not all younger women will cause you problems, older women tend to have an idea of what they want out of life.
There is less drama with older women, so you may have to be there full-time when your younger girlfriend goes through a crisis, possibly one that she caused herself.
3. You may have to raise her.
Having a younger partner means you have to guide her through life as well. She is your lover and your possible future. But there are times that you will have to act like a parent around her.
She hasn’t experienced as much of life as you have, so she will most likely go to you for advice. There will be moments when you will have to scold her. You are the older one here, so you will need to be the adult in the relationship. Even if you are both equals, age really will play its part later in your life.
This allows her to rely on you. She will look at you as the man of the house more than you think. Whether you believe you’re ready for that is up to you.
4. Your opinions will clash more often than not.
You are from different generations, so clashing is inevitable. Your traditional beliefs will be put to the test. She was raised in today’s era, so she might challenge your conservative mindset.
You need to be understanding and firm with her. If you two can’t agree about something, then understand that you can agree to disagree.
Have a Level of Understanding
You two are different, almost the exact opposite of each other. Even if you have things in common, there will be other aspects that will put you against her.
Love isn’t easy. It’s especially harder for those with an age gap. Understand that you will be in it for the long run but don’t forget to enjoy the ride too.
Age will never be an issue with May-December ships. It’s how the couple handles the age gap that really makes it challenging.
