“Why are so many decent people single nowadays?”
For Women: They value their independence and don’t need a partner to achieve that. Women nowadays don’t always want to follow traditional social norms or gender roles of getting married early and starting a family.
As long as they are happy with where they are in life, they choose to be single.
There are also women who, while well-intentioned, are too picky. They stay this way until they realize that time has passed them by.
For Men: Men are viewed in two categories. The man who dates a lot of girls until he is ready to settle down, and the man who waits and waits for the perfect girl, hesitating to approach girls who don’t fit his preference.
Just because you are decent doesn’t mean you are entitled to be in a meaningful relationship. You have to work for it.
Some don’t put forth the effort because it isn’t a priority. Others are too timid and afraid to take risks. And then you have those who are disillusioned with the whole idea of romance.
Ultimately, you need to make a choice to open yourself to love. That includes being vulnerable.
