Unfortunately, your normal may no longer be the same as the normal of other people who’ve never been a victim of abuse.

But that’s okay. Getting out was just Step 1. Now you can focus on healing.

If you’re a survivor of narcissistic abuse, your trauma can stay with you for a long time, even when you sincerely believe you’re “doing everything right”.

You can exhibit signs of PTSD or depression. You can have persistent trust and commitment issues. You can even end up convinced that all of it was your fault.

What you need to remember is that all those things are normal, especially for someone who went through what you went through. They’re normal and they can be addressed. One step at a time.

You will heal.

You will eventually change your “normal” to something better.

And you will love again.
