“Do men ever choose intelligence over beauty?”
Or are they just programmed to be more visual?
Generally, I believe both men and women appreciate attractive people. It’s eye candy. It feels rewarding and enjoyable to look at. After all, it’s part of our human instincts.
But it doesn’t necessarily mean that men are programmed that way.
Past those instincts, we all know that beauty alone will not help you achieve more things.
When it comes to casual relationships like hooking up, it could be the latter, but it shouldn’t be generalized only to men.
But as I said, it doesn’t apply in looking for a long-term partner.
An intelligent woman will mostly have the upper hand in terms of being a potential long-term partner. Qualities beyond physical attractiveness build personality.
Qualities like being reliable, trustworthy, adaptable, open-minded, and sensitive, these are key qualities for a successful relationship.
Even in beauty pageants, apart from the women’s looks and how they walk, they are judged by their intelligence and personality — whether they are cut out to be a queen who would help and advocate for the world.
So while beauty initially attracts men, as they are known to be visual creatures, intelligence in the end will always have more appeal. That is if a man is looking for an ideal partner.
